Overview

Lotus Cup Europe is a race series designed to offer Lotus owners the opportunity to experience some of the best race circuits in Europe with like-minded enthusiasts. It’s aimed at both experienced racers as well as those wishing to compete for the first time.

Organisation

Lotus Cup Europe is organised by LoTRDC in conjunction with MSVR - the racing club division of MotorSport Vision - owners of Brands Hatch and four other major circuits. Both organisations currently organise and promote the “Elise Trophy” & Lotus Cup UK. The Elise Trophy has been the success story of UK motor sport over the past four seasons with full grids and quality meetings across the UK. With one of the best calendars in UK motor sport the Elise Trophy has supported major events such as DTM and A1GP. In addition the series has headlined a number of Lotus Celebration events, and has the largest spectator following of any club series in the UK thanks to support from the Lotus community. MSVR organise and promote a number of high profile race series including British Superbikes and Formula Palmer Audi in addition to running top class events at their circuits such as World Super Bikes and World Touring Cars.

Since LoTRDC took over organisation of Lotus Cup Europe grid sizes have trebled to see grid average nearly 40 starters in 2010. Events are also now of the highest quality with 2011 seeing Lotus Cup Europe team up on three occasions with the FIA Formula 2 Championship as well as support for one round of the FIA European Truck Grand Prix alongside many other high profile series.

History of Lotus Cup Europe

The Lotus Cup Europe Series, now in its 8th year, started in 2004 as a direct response to customer and Lotus Dealer interest in a ‘fun’ but professionally - run motorsport series in Europe. During that time it has attracted many competitors from all over Europe, a large number of whom have been new to car racing.

Who can enter Lotus Cup Europe?

Anyone holding a current driving license living in Europe can compete in Lotus Cup Europe. All you need is a National Race License from your European Countries Motorsports authority. This license must be a National license and have a picture of the EU flag on it, regional or novice licenses will not be accepted.

We wouldn’t recommend that anyone starts out racing before gaining some other experience on track, track days are a good place to start and there are many companies offering reasonably priced days throughout Europe.

Once you have your race license you will need to contact LoTRDC to check your license and car are suitable.
